The competitive examination for the selection of Assistant Conservator of Forest and Range Forest Officer (General Recruitment and Special/Backlog Recruitment) is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Publish Service Commission. This competitive exam comprises of following stages of tests-

Preliminary Examination

Preliminary test will have two papers. Both will have a duration of 02-02 hours with 200-200 marks. Papers will have the question based on General Studies. Paper-II of the General Studies will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.

Main (Written) Examination

Main examination will have 7 papers, including optional subjects. This will have a total 1400 marks. Every paper will have a weight-age of 200 marks. Details of papers is available below.
Paper-I : General Hindi and Essay (Conventional Type), Duration of 2 hours
Paper-II : General Studies Ist Paper (Objective Type), Duration of 2 hours
Paper-III : General Studies IInd Paper (Objective Type), Duration of 2 hours
Paper-IV : Optional Subject-I (First 3 hours) (Conventional Type)
Paper-V : Optional Subject-I (Second 3 hours) (Conventional Type)
Paper-VI : Optional Subject-II (First 3 hours) (Conventional Type)
Paper-VII : Optional Subject-II (Second 3 hours) (Conventional Type)

Any two subjects to be selected from the following list of the optional subjects-
1. Agriculture
2. Agriculture Engineering
3. Botany
4. Chemistry
5. Chemical Engineering
6. Civil Engineering
7. Forestry
8. Geology
9. Mathematics
10. Mechanical Engineering
11. Physics
12. Statistics
13. Zoology
14. Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
15. Horticulture
16. Environmental Science.

Personality Test (Interview)

The Personality test will be 150 Marks. Only the candidates who will qualify in the Main Written Examination shall be allowed to appear in the Interview.

Grand Total of entire selection process will be 1550 Marks. Marks obtained in preliminary test will not be included in this. The selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained by the candidates in Main (Written) Examination and Interview.
