The Lok Sabha (House of the People) is the Lower house of Parliament of India. Lok Sabha has a separate non-elected Secretariat staff which is recruited by Lok Sabha Secretariat for the various works. Hers is the examination pattern for the posts of Professional/ Consultant at Lok Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi.

Pattern of Examination

A. Preliminary Examination: Preliminary exam has three sections to be completed in total of 75 Minutes. Every section has a weight-age of 50 marks. Thus Preliminary test has a total weight-age of 150 marks. Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions will be set in each part.
Part A – General knowledge & Current Affairs
Part B – General English
Part C – General Hindi

B. Main Examination: Mains exam has two sections to be completed in total of 40 Minutes. To complete the Paper-I 30 minutes will be given and for Paper-II the allowed time will be 10 minutes. Every section has a weight-age of 100 marks. Thus Preliminary test has a total weight-age of 200 marks.
Paper I – A written test shall be conducted in Paper-I. Questions will be based on Library Science & Library Automation subject. 50 Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions shall be set to be answered.
Paper II – In Paper-II, English Typing Test shall be conducted, to clear which candidate should have a Typing speed of minimum 26.7 words per minute.

The candidates will be required to qualify the typing test at the requisite speed. There will not be negative marking in the written papers. The Preliminary Examination will serve only as a screening test for candidates and marks obtained in Prelims will not be counted while preparing the final selection merit/list.
