The selection on to the posts of Havildar in Indian Army Educational Corps will be done on merit basis only. The detailed methodology of selection will have following stages, as provided below-
1. Physical Standards Test
2. Physical Fitness Test
3. Written Examination
4. Teaching Aptitude Test and Interview
Physical Standards Test
Candidates should necessarily have the following physical measurement standards as per their concern region. No relaxation will be allowed in the regard.

Physical Fitness Test
As part of screening process the candidate will be subjected to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test. This will be qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in PFT will not be considered while finalizing the final merit. The following tests will be conducted in accordance with the laid down standards in vogue-
(i) 1.6 Km run
(ii) Pull up (Beam)
(iii) Balance
(iv) 9 feet ditch
Written Examination
Only those candidates qualified in screening and declared medically fit will be permitted to appear further in the written examination. The written test will comprise of two papers-
PAPER-I (Maximum Marks – 50): This will be common and compulsory for all candidates. This paper will consist of 50 objective type questions on general awareness and general English.
PAPER-II (Maximum Marks – 50). This paper will be compulsory for science stream candidates. It will consist of 50 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology and Mathematics.
PAPER-III (Maximum Marks – 50). This paper will be compulsory for Arts stream candidates. It will consist of 50 objective type questions from History, Geography, Political Science, Economics and Mathematics.
There will be a negative marking provision in written test. For each wrong answer one-fourth mark will be deducted assign to that question.
Teaching Aptitude Test and Interview
Candidates declared successful in written examination and placed in merit list will have appear for Teaching Aptitude Test and Interview.
Training: Candidates finally selected in all tests and placed in final merit list will be enrolled in Army Educational Corps. They will undergo Military and Technical Training for approximately one year. Rejection can take place at any stage during training also.
